Screening and artists’ talk with Eve Sussman, Simon Lee & Angela Christlieb | Koordination Volkmar Klien
How many artists does it take to end up with no food no money + no jewels?
“There are some people who begin the Zoo at the beginning, called WAYIN, and walk as quickly as they can past every cage until they get to the one called WAYOUT…”
— A.A. Milne
Eve Sussman, Simon Lee and Angela Christlieb are excited to come to Linz to do a screening and talk about their 12 year saga making No food No money No jewels, a film that began its life in the Frankfurt zoo and a boys bathroom of an abandoned Catholic school.
A set made from scaffolding and found photographs was constructed in a theater, the actors perform as factory workers channelling recordings of real-world figures—Princess Diana, John DeLorean, Charlie Watts, Marcel Marceau, Janis Joplin, Julia Child—as archetypes for their characters.
Eve Sussman is an artist based in NYC, who makes films, installations and performances with actors and the public. In 2010 Eve Sussman and Simon Lee founded the Wallabout Oyster Theatre in Brooklyn.
Simon Lee works in photography, video, performance and installation - his projects include live multi-screen theatrical events, ad-hoc performances in public spaces, single and multi channel films and sculptural installations. He lives in Brooklyn, NY.
Angela Christlieb is a filmmaker, editor, and multimedia artist based in Vienna and Berlin. She works across photography, video, and installation. Her films range from experimental documentaries to feature length art films.
