Doctoral candidate Óscar Escudero Romero presents the premiere of “ANTON: THE ESCAPE ROOM” on 13th and 14th of December, 2024 at SonnensteinLoft in Linz. The composition is part of his artistic-scholarly research project ‘Composition of an Escape Room: Investigation of an interactive music theatre mode’. The work is also part of the Anton Bruckner 2024 programme, which celebrates the composer's 200th birthday in Upper Austria and abroad, and it is funded by Linz Kultur Förderung.
Part escape room, part music theatre, ‘ANTON: THE ESCAPE ROOM’ focuses on the life and work of Anton Bruckner as the central figure.
In this immersive work, groups of 4 to 6 players will enter a space in which they will interact with severalmultimedia elements, as well as live instrumentalists and objects linked to Bruckner’s life and work. The players will have to find their way out of the room by solving a series of puzzles and interacting with musical instruments, projections, electronics and old music recording media.
The play was produced by CLAMMY Studio, a contemporary music theatre collective co-directed by composer Óscar Escudero Romero and composer and dramaturge Belenish Moreno-Gil. ‘ANTON: THE ESCAPE ROOM’ is part of the Anton Bruckner Programme 2024 on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the composer's birth and is supported by the Linzer Kulturförderung and the Bruckner University.
The duration of the piece is 45 minutes maximum and there are 15 time slots available.
