Symphony Orchestra
Orchestral playing at the Anton Bruckner University (ABU) is an essential part of the degree programme. The Symphony Orchestra of the Anton Bruckner University, part of the “Orchestra” course (ORC for short), brings together students from various European countries and around the world. During their studies at ABU, they work on and perform the major and significant orchestral works of music history at least once per semester, collaborating with internationally renowned conductors during intensive rehearsal periods. The repertoire ranges from Early Music through Classical and Romantic works to Contemporary music.
ORC is a required component of the curriculum for all orchestral instruments and generally takes place once per semester. ORC differs from other courses in its planning, organization, and structure:
As soon as the admission period begins, students must register in bonline for the orchestra course corresponding to their individual semester level (e.g., 03). The currently valid rehearsal times are listed there as well.
This registration also serves as confirmation that students are available for this project on the dates listed there and that students will participate fully in the project. The “Orchestra” course is assessed through continuous evaluation and can only be certified with 100% attendance. Individual special circumstances or emergencies can be reported to the orchestra office.
