Roznik Novak
Jerca Rožnik Novak (* 1992, Ljubljana) spent her childhood and youth deeply immersed in the world of dance in Ljubljana, captivated by rich artistic traditions and the evolving contemporary dance scene. Drawing from this background, she seeks to expand the possibilities of movement, choreography, pedagogy, and interdisciplinary collaboration beyond conventional stage settings. Her artistic work explores the complex relationships between physical expression, perception, and shared artistic experiences, leading her to engage in diverse fields.
Her work has been presented and performed internationally. She has collaborated with renowned institutions and choreographers, co-creating innovative choreographic works that bridge dance, music, and media. Notable performances include HEY, HAY! Zdravo, Seno! (co-produced by BUNKER and Zavod Flota), BLUFF (produced by Zavod Flota), and INNER DRUM, a duet with musician Andraž Mazi, performed at Kunstraum Nestroyhof in Vienna. Her solo works, such as FEAR(FUL)LESS and 2GETHER/AL(L)ONE, have been staged at Dance Theatre Ljubljana and in collaboration with international festivals and production houses such as Stora Teatern Göteborg, Bakelit Multi Art Center Budapest and Dublin Theatre Festival.
A strong emphasis on collaboration defines her artistic practice. She has worked with choreographers and artists such as Willi Dorner, Rose Breuss, Matjaž Farič, Vita Osojnik, Andreja Podrzavnik, Los Informalls, Barbara Novakovič, Magdalena Reiter, and others. She was also part of the L'Italiana in Algeri production at Tirol Festspiele Erl. Since 2014, she has been a regular collaborator with SILK Fluegge and the editta braun company and is actively performing in their latest productions. She is the co-founder of echospiel, an interdisciplinary duet combining dance and percussion. The duo regularly offers workshops called Bewegte Töne, engaging diverse groups across Austria.
Jerca Rožnik Novak holds a BA in Social Work from the University of Ljubljana and an MA in Dance Pedagogy from Anton Bruckner Private University. She has taught contemporary dance technique at esteemed institutions such as SVŠGUGL Dance High School in Ljubljana, Alma Mater Europaea Dance Academy, Anton Bruckner Private University, and Dance Theatre Ljubljana. Additionally, she has been a guest teacher for professional dance companies including En Knap Group and Tanztheater Münster. She has also taught at Musisches Gymnasium Salzburg and was part of the teaching team at Musikschule Ober-Grafendorf.
Her dedication to dance has been recognized with numerous scholarships and awards, including the Ksenija Hribar Award for Promising Dancers, the Jury Award at Festival Ukrep: ENTER, and multiple scholarships from the Slovenian Ministry of Culture. Through her continuous artistic and pedagogical work, she remains committed to shaping the future of contemporary dance and interdisciplinary performance.
