Australian born Emma Black is the principal and solo oboist with Wiener Akademie (Vienna) and Le Concert de la Loge (Paris). With these and other ensembles, she has performed at all the major European festivals and is featured in numerous CD and radio recordings.

At ease performing on both historical and modern oboes, Emma also collaborates regularly with ensembles including the Irish Baroque Orchestra, Netherlands Bach Society, B-Rock, Musica Aeterna, Le Cercle de l’Harmonie, Concentus Musicus Wien, Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, Haydn Philharmonie, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Bach Consort Wien, and Les Talens Lyriques. In Australia, she performs with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Australian Romantic and Classical Orchestra, and Pinchgut Opera.

She has recorded for Aparte, Harmonia Mundi, Sony, Carus, Naxos, Deutsche Grammophon, and ARS-Production, including two solo albums, *The Privileged Oboe*.

From 2014 to 2019, Emma was Professor of Modern Oboe at Kunstuniversität Graz. She now holds the same position at Anton Bruckner University in Linz and teaches historical oboe at the University of Performing Arts in Vienna.

Emma began her studies at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne before training in Europe with Heinz Holliger (Musikhochschule Freiburg), Maurice Bourgue (Conservatoire de Genève), and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
