Accessibility Statement

The ABU strives to make its websites accessible in accordance with national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102.

This accessibility statement applies to websites operated by the ABU.

Status of compliance with requirements

Due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions, ABU websites are partially compliant with conformance level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – WCAG 2.1.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons:

Incompatibility with WCAG 2.1

  • Images without ALT texts: Some editorially maintained pages contain images that do not yet have text alternatives assigned to them.
  • Videos: Some audiovisual content does not have subtitles or alternative descriptions.
  • PDF and Office documents: Many of the documents provided do not yet fully comply with the requirements for accessible documents.

Disproportionate burden

  • For individual websites whose technical basis only partially supports accessibility, full implementation of WCAG 2.1 would be a disproportionate burden in accordance with Article 5 of the Directive.

Content not covered by the scope of application

  • Audio and video content published before 23 September 2020.
  • Live broadcast audiovisual content.
  • Archived content that is no longer updated and is not required for ongoing administrative processes.

Creation of this statement

This statement was created in November 2025.

Verification is carried out through self-testing by the ABU and, where necessary, in cooperation with external technical service providers.
