Language Requirements
German language certificate
Foreign-language applicants must prove that they have a sufficient proficiency in German language (with the exception of dance degree programmes where English is the language of instruction).
- Language diploma for artistic bachelor's degrees (KBA) and artistic master's degrees (KMA): B1 (CEFR) - to be submitted at the latest before registering for the continuation of studies for the 3rd semester
- Language diploma for pedagogical bachelor's degrees (PBA): B1 (CEFR) - to be submitted at initial enrollment
- Language diploma for Master's degree programs in education (PMA): B2 (GER) - to be submitted at initial enrollment
Exception: For Institut VOC, the relevant language certificate must be submitted at the time of the entrance examination in all cases!
The following are accepted as proof of German:
- Austrian Language Diploma German (ÖSD)
- Language certificate of the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF)
- Goethe certificate
- German language test for university admission (DSH)
- German language diploma of the Conference of Ministers of Education (DSD)
- telc language certificate
- Positive completion of a language course at an Austrian university at the required level
- Completion of 8 years of schooling at a German-speaking school
- 4 years of German lessons at secondary level II and matriculation examination in German
- Completion of the matriculation examination in German
Note: The documents required under 1-7 must not be older than two years at the time of submission. The documents required under 8-10 are valid for an unlimited period.
The original document must be submitted. The examination result must be clearly stated on the document. Language course certificates without a final exam will not be accepted under any circumstances.
