The Career Centre at Anton Bruckner University provides students with practical support to help them make a successful transition from university to the world of work. It provides information on current topics and career-related knowledge and helps students recognise their own potential, formulate their wishes, achieve their goals more quickly and build a successful and sustainable artistic career.

Students receive advice and support through an offer of workshops, lectures, career talks, and personal counselling in the areas of self-management, brand development & innovation, well-being (physical & mental health), and networking.

Dates and events are offered as a supplement to all fields of study and can be attended by all students.

The toolbox contains interesting and helpful links to work and information materials, counseling centers, and further reading to help you get started in your working life.

Self-management

Successful music and art have always combined the ability to consciously use their thoughts and actions to achieve professional goals. Key skills such as clear goal setting and planning, as well as knowledge of organisational processes, financial resources, legal issues and negotiation methods, round off an artistic personality that can pursue a long-term career efficiently and confidently.

Brand development & innovations

By creating their own brand that authentically speaks to their audience, artists can achieve a clear positioning in the music and art market. This increases their recognition value and creates a positive distinction from their competitors. Brand development is a dynamic process that addresses issues such as public perception (artist photos, website, etc.), press relations and targeted communication.

Having their own ‘brand’ also enables artists to respond better to changes in the markets and to innovations, as they can assess more quickly whether new ideas and trends fit their personality and what they have to offer, and how they can be successfully implemented.

Well-Being

The quality of our lives is directly related to physical, mental and social health. Artistic creation, with its high (and often unrealistic) demands for peak performance and perfection, often forgets that without balance, downtime and well-being, long-term success is not possible. The possibilities for prevention and healing are as diverse as the artists themselves. Finding a (daily) routine that allows for contentment, positivity and recharging of resources is the key to a fulfilling artistic life.

Networking

A professional, stable and supportive network accompanies you throughout your entire (artistic) life. Professional success, artistic collaboration, professional exchange and help in difficult situations depend largely on how you build and maintain your own network. The value of the community goes far beyond professional success, because making contacts during your studies connects you and shows that seemingly individual challenges also affect colleagues and that solutions can be found more quickly together.
