Grenzner Matheu
Anna Grenzner is a cellist specialising in contemporary music and a doctoral candidate at the Bruckner University. Since April 2026, she also works as a university assistant in the team of doctoral studies. Her artistic practice encompasses solo projects, performances with contemporary music ensembles, collaborations with composers, and the development of interdisciplinary performance and improvisation formats incorporating physical movement and language. She studied in Graz, Zürich and Barcelona, and performs internationally in the fields of new music and improvisation.
In her research, she investigates how the body of instrumentalists can shape the creative process of new musical works. With this, her work aims to deepen the understanding of embodied knowledge in music-making and to strengthen the artistic agency of performers.
As part of the doctoral programmes team, she is involved in areas including the development of PR initiatives, communicating research to the university community, teaching, as well as organisational and coordination tasks.
