The Support Center for Artistic Projects at ABU sees itself as a planning, coordination, and implementation unit within the university that plans and implements the courses in the “orchestra” area provided for in the curricula on the one hand, and on the other hand also provides support for inter-institutional artistic projects wherever possible and after consultation. In the long term, the central registration of loan instruments and the handling of the associated loan transactions are to be bundled in this support center.

Goals

  • Planning, implementation, and execution of orchestra courses in accordance with the requirements of the current curriculum
  • Reflective preparation to ensure the high-quality execution of orchestra projects
  • Excellent preparation of students for professional orchestra practice outside of university structures
  • Establishment of a suitable infrastructure for the professional execution of artistic projects, in particular through the inventory of instruments and the establishment of a rental system

Responsibilities

  • Planning, scheduling, and implementation of large-scale artistic projects, especially orchestras, in accordance with the applicable curricula
  • Concert repertoire/schedule planning in coordination with planning groups or project managers
  • Communication and contract negotiations with external artists (e.g., conductors) and cooperation partners after consultation with the responsible vice-rectorate
  • Organization of rehearsal rooms/concert venues, as well as rehearsal planning and preparation Stage plan/stage setup (internal/external)
  • Organization and provision of sheet music (library/publishers) and the necessary instruments
  • Participation in the inventory of an instrument database and establishment of a corresponding rental system in consultation with the institutes and the relevant vice-rectorate
  • Casting planning and coordination and communication with students, as well as supervision of participating students and other participating artists during project phases
  • Organization of any necessary transportation services and instrument transport
  • Attendance monitoring of participating students (orchestra regulations) and attendance documentation as a basis for grading
  • Further development and professionalization of orchestra course procedures in consultation with ZKF faculty, the dean of studies, and the vice rector, taking into account the requirements and obligations of professional orchestra practice outside of university structures
