With 63 participants from 11 countries, the third International Summer Academy was a resounding success. The future professional musicians spent a week perfecting their musical skills in masterclasses with renowned lecturers of international standing. Last Saturday, the course came to a successful conclusion with a final concert and the awarding of certificates.

“The Summer Academy is a place for the musical and personal development of international talents and is also intended to provide space for horizon-broadening programs. For the first time, a workshop by the Nikolaus Harnoncourt Center on Harnoncourt's Klangrede (sound speech) was offered as part of the Summer Academy,” says Rector Martin Rummel, delighted with the enriching synergy effect with the NHZ, founded in 2023 at the Bruckner University. “In addition, with this tailor-made program, our university is living up to its claim of artistic excellence and innovative teaching, as well as promoting social participation,” says the rector.

“International lecturers and talented, committed students guarantee the high standard of the academy and make this music week a very special experience,” explains Michael Oman, who has been the artistic director of the summer academy at BrucknerUni since its foundation in 2023.

Additional workshops rounded off the well-balanced program: “In line with the training at BrucknerUni, we place great emphasis on performance coaching and bodywork at the summer academy, which were very well booked,” said Julia Purgina, Vice Rector for Art and Teaching, adding: “The high artistic level and the passionate teaching by the lecturers were particularly impressive.”

The highlight of the week was the final concert with selected solo and chamber music works and the presentation of certificates. A total of 11 instrumental lecturers from 7 countries led courses for keyboard, string, woodwind, and plucked instruments.
