On 18 October 2024, doctoral candidate Erin Lupardus will present the current state of her research at the Symposium “Junge Musikwissenschaft” (JuMuWi) 2024 at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with her lecture, “Reapproaching Bass Violin Characterization: A First-Stage Analysis of Bowed Bass Descriptions of the 17th and 18th Centuries.”
The symposium constitutes part of the annual conference of the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Musikwissenschaft and aims to provide master's and doctoral students from Austrian universities the opportunity to present their work, exchange ideas, and network with one another and leading experts in the field of musicology. Further information on the conference can be found here.
Lupardus’s research concerns historical perspectives on the bass violin and other bowed basses of the 17th and 18th centuries. She looks forward to discussing the digital humanities component of her research by demonstrating an approach to databases that can be applied by others investigating written instrument descriptions.
We offer our hearty congratulations!
