Prof.in Dr.in Barbara Lüneburg, head of the doctoral programmes and artist in new media, was a guest at the ZKM on 10.4.2021 as a discussant in the live-streamed panel discussion
"…our of free desire … connected …? Opportunities and challenges of digital music experience”
This panel discussion, moderated by Martina Seeber, explored the possibilities of the digital music experience and its impact on society. The discussion centered on the question of the extent to which tele-society is a utopia worth striving for. What possibilities for the reception of music are created by the new technologies and to what extent do these potentials destroy or expand the original analogue version of music? In addition, the question of whether the digital space offers an opportunity for the diversification of audiences, artists and aesthetic positions was investigated. Can social visions be realised more easily within a technological renewal?
Moderation: Martina Seeber (musicologist & journalist), Gina Emerson (musicologist & member of GRiNM), Prof. Sandeep Bhagwati (composer, director of the ensemble Extrakte & Sangeet Prayog, director of the Matralab at Concordia University Montréal), Prof. Ludger Brümmer (composer, director of the ZKM | Hertz-Lab), Prof. Dr Barbara Lüneburg (violinist, professor for artistic research at the Anton Bruckner Private University, Linz), Theresa Beyer (music journalist & curator)
