The doctoral programmes of the Anton Bruckner Private University cordially invite you to the first public defensio with the musicologist and sociologist Roman Duffner:

Roman Duffner ‘Of Keys, Colours, Bugs and Sounds: On Co-operations Between Human and Non-human Actors in the Production of Popular Music’

Date: 28 February 2025, 11:30-13:00

Location: Sonic Lab, Anton Bruckner Private University

Roman Duffner's research focusses on the interfaces between music, society and technology. In his dissertation, he investigates how human and non-human actors work together in the creative process of popular music production. Using actor-network theory as a foundation, he explores how these non-human entities actively contribute to music making. In doing so, he aims to develop a better understanding of the socio-material relationships in the digital music production process while contributing to the theoretical discussion on creativity and the role of non-human actors.

The defensio is open to the public. The university community and all interested persons are cordially invited to attend, to participate in the subsequent discussion and to support Roman Duffner on this important step in his academic career!
