The conference Transformationen. Musikvermittlung als Game Changer at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz brought together experts from the arts, academia and practice from February 28 to March 1, 2025. It was organized by Dean of Studies Dagmar Schinnerl and the university professors and doctoral supervisors Irena Müller-Brozović and Hans Georg Nicklaus. The focus was on the questions of how music mediation can initiate social change and be sustainably anchored in the music sector.
Doctoral students from Bruckner University were also present, including Bernhard Ernst Scharl. “The conference clearly shows how broadly music mediation is positioned and how deeply it affects social processes,” says Scharl.
With lectures, discussions and workshops, the conference shed light on the transformative power of music mediation from various perspectives. The event took place in cooperation with mica - music austria, Plattform Musikvermittlung Österreich, IG Musikvermittlung Österreich, NJO/Netzwerk Junge Ohren and the Forum Musikvermittlung an Hochschulen und Universitäten.
