The team of the doctoral programmes of the Anton Bruckner University is pleased to welcome Dr. Vittoria Ecclesia as a new Senior Scientist. With her extensive expertise in artistic and academic research, Dr. Ecclesia enriches the university's vibrant academic community. In her new role, she will assume duties in teaching, research and coordination for the Doctoral School. With her seminars on the practice and theory of artistic and academic research, she will provide important impulses for the doctoral and master's programs.
Dr. Vittoria Ecclesia, clarinetist and artistic researcher, completed her doctorate in Classical Music Performance at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Her dissertation, “Practice Beyond Boundaries: Enhancing Musicianship through Historical Clarinet Affordances”, with its innovative approaches to clarinet practice and methodological development, was award-winning. After studying at the Conservatorio Cantelli in Novara and the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Dr. Ecclesia gained extensive experience in international concert practice. She has performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles in Italy, Estonia, Finland, France, Spain and Germany. Between 2022 and 2024 she was also a junior researcher at the Estonian Academy of Music and Drama.
Dr. Ecclesia regularly presents at international conferences and symposia. Most recently, she spoke at a panel discussion on artistic research at the 61st Nuova Consonanza festival in Rome on November 30, 2024.
Since 1.11.24, together with Theodore Lee Parker, she has been part of the team around Kristi Kapten (PI) in the artistic research project “Modernized Salon: Broadening Performers' Perspectives on Public Presentation”, which is funded by the Estonian Ministry of Culture.
