Aleksandar Acev studied contemporary mime in Amsterdam, Berlin, Los Angeles and Zagreb (School of Applied Arts Zagreb and Moving Academy for Performing Arts Amsterdam) and then devoted himself to physical theatre. His artistic and educational work follows in the tradition of European physical theatre, such as modern mime and mime corporel, and integrates influences from Mayerhold's biomechanics, contemporary dance, new music and the visual arts.  He first worked freelance in various, often international projects as a performer, choreographer and director. His areas of work also include choreographic contributions to productions in the theatre and within educational institutions: NT Rijeka, NT Skopje, Aufbruch Berlin, Hebbel Theater Berlin, Brucknerhaus Linz, Theater Bonn, Musik Festival Luzerne, Theater Exit and Theater ITD Zagreb, among others. In addition, he has been involved in projects that, in addition to artistic goals, also promote the life and social skills of the participants. This interest led him to the UNESCO theatre project for refugee children in the Balkans, to the Berlin Philharmonic's education projects in socially disadvantaged areas of Berlin, to choreographic work with inmates at the Tegel prison in Berlin, to training programmes for young artists in Eastern Europe, and more.

In addition to teaching at the Bruckner University in Linz (since 2006), he taught ‘Body Language and Movement Technique for Performers’ at the Mime Centrum Berlin (2003-2019) and Physical Design for Actors at the Max Reinhardt Seminar (professorship 2019-2022) and at the MUK University of Music and the Arts in Vienna (2016-2025). He was a lecturer at the Hans Eisler School of Music and the University of the Arts (stage presence for singers and musicians) and at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts (movement). As an outstanding master of his craft, he performs and teaches at numerous institutions and festivals worldwide...
