Katerina Beranova was born in Czechia, where she studied piano and singing from the age of six. At 14, she began her vocal training at the conservatory in Brno, graduating with honors. She then studied in Rome with Stefania Magnifico and in Vienna at the University of Music and Performing Arts (Prof. Walter Moore). She began her career at the age of 22 at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, first in the choir, later as a soloist under conductors such as W. Sawallisch, Ch. Thielemann, and D. Gatti. In 1995, she made her debut as Clorinda in Rossini's Cenerentola in Dublin. From 1996 to 2002, she sang the First Flower Maiden at the Bayreuth Festival under G. Sinopoli, Eschenbach, and Thielemann. Further engagements took her to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (Der Ring des Nibelungen, Die Frau ohne Schatten), the Washington National Opera, the Theater an der Wien, the Musikverein, and the Konzerthaus Wien, among others. International guest performances have taken her to Brussels, Tokyo, New York, Paris, London, Leipzig, and elsewhere. She has sung with the Venice Baroque Orchestra, the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, and the Dresden Philharmonic under R. Chailly, Frühbeck de Burgos, and M. Haselböck, among others. Her repertoire includes Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, C. Orff, and many more. Since 2007, she has been teaching voice at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, and since 2013 as a habilitated and currently associate professor. She gives international master classes and is a jury member at renowned singing competitions. Her discography includes Vivaldi's Andromeda Liberata (Deutsche Grammophon) and Beethoven's 9th Symphony (Decca).
