Narendra Patil is a contemporary dance artist, choreographer, and educator known for his innovative approach to movement and profound artistic expression.

Born in Belgaum, India, Narendra followed his passion for movement by pursuing an extensive training in Okinawa Martial Arts, where he attained a black belt, instilling in him discipline, grace, and a deep understanding of the body's capabilities. Narendra further honed his skills through formal education at the Terence Lewis Dance Foundation Trust in Mumbai, where he immersed himself in the world of contemporary dance and later served as a principal performer, teacher, and assistant choreographer for over a decade. During this time, he also completed a Yoga teacher training course at "The Yoga Institute" in India.

Narendra currently based in Linz, Austria working as Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Dance at Anton Bruckner University in Linz. His work, with current emphasis in improvisation and physical movement, utilises the experiences encountered in his life to draw upon, constructing safe and deeply authentic environments, bringing the students fully into a learning and creative process.

Narendra have spent last eighteen years studying the methods of Improvisation on stage, Flying Low and Passing Through, created by David Zambrano, the main focus of my teaching practise, and ambassador of sharing this work across India, Europe and further afield. This is a fundamental part of his movement practise and philosophical understanding of what dance represents in the wider context of community and culture.

Co-founder and artistic director :
After years of travels and understanding the difficulties that artists face during their career, especially for who those come from Southeast Asia, Narendra and Rakesh Sukesh realised a need for establishing an art organization. In 2020 Narendra become a co-founder and artistic director of SANSKAR Global Platform for Performing Arts in India. SANSKAR , based in India, would run several artistic development projects, such as a festival, incubation and cross boarder artistic exchange. The intent of the project is to provide a platform for young emerging artists to meet, learn and evolve as a future artist.
SANSKAR had its first edition festival in India in 2020 and was followed by a Virtual festival during the covid crisis. Both projects had an exponential impact on the global art community.

In 2024 Narendra and Iuliia Patil created Unscripted Space project in Kassel. A space for performers to dive into spontaneously, composing live in front of an audience.
