Netzwerken in Wien um 1900: Beziehungen, Praktiken, Materialitäten
Mit dem Ziel, neue Perspektiven auf das Thema „Wien um 1900“ auszuloten, fragt der Workshop nach Beziehungen, Praktiken und Materialitäten in kulturellen Netzwerken – von den Brahms-Kreisen und der etablierten Musikkultur über Gustav Mahler bis zu den Avantgarde-Zirkeln um Arnold Schönberg. Gerade in der Wiener Moderne, die in ihrer Vielfalt eine interdisziplinäre Perspektive bedingt, ist die Musikkultur in enger Vernetzung mit weiteren Künsten zu denken. Förderliche Beziehungen und Allianzen können ebenso im Fokus stehen wie Spaltungen und Kontroversen. Die Frage „Wer steht mit wem und wie in Kontakt?“ soll mit Blick auf Praktiken und Materialitäten möglichst breit gedacht werden.

Call for Papers: Jugendmusikbewegung – Kontinuitäten und Brüche der Praktiken und Ideale
Beiträge werden gesucht, die die Jugendmusikbewegung aus unterschiedlicher Perspektive in ihrer Breite und Vielschichtigkeit beleuchten. Diese können sich an folgenden Themenfeldern orientieren: Stilistik und Praxis, Institutionen und Bildung, Regionale Studien, Nationalsozialismus und Ideologie sowie Langzeitwirkungen und Gegenwartsrelevanz. Wir laden Musikwissenschaftler*innen, Historiker*innen und Pädagog*innen ein, ihre Forschungsergebnisse und laufenden Projekte vorzustellen.

„So anch’io la virtù magica“: Morality and Libertinism of Virtuose from the Seventeenth to the Nineteenth Centuries
The conference aims to explore the complex and often contradictory relationship between morality, virtue, transgression, and libertinage in the lives, careers, and representations of female singers, performers (virtuose), dancers, and actresses from the 17th to the 19th century. The conference seeks to investigate how the virtuose negotiated social norms, moral expectations, and artistic freedom in different cultural, geographical, and institutional contexts, through a historical, critical, and interdisciplinary approach.

Musical Modernism in a Global Perspective
The conference aims to explore the notion of musical modernism through a wide lens, including geography, musical style, aesthetics, reception, politics, transmission, and institutionalization. Studies of modernist traditions in countries or cultures that might be regarded as “peripheral” are particularly welcomed, as are studies that offer new perspectives on modernism in areas already well represented in musicological scholarship. Particular attention will be placed on the period ca. 1945–1980, although contributions outside of this time frame are also welcome.

Song Is Our Weapon: Music in the Process of Nation Building
The conference is intended to reflect on the role of music in the formation, consolidation, and articulation of national consciousness from the mid-18th century to the end of World War II. It aims to highlight the diverse connections between music, identity, and political processes, where music was not only a form of aesthetic expression, but also an important means of national identification, social communication, and the establishment of symbolic boundaries between “us” and “them”.

Die Jahrestagung lädt zu weitreichenden Reflexionen über all diese Themenbereiche ein.

40. DVSM-Nachwuchssymposium in Kooperation mit Musica Inaudita
Critical Musicologies: Zwischen Kanonizität, Lehre und künstlerischer Praxis
Das Symposium knüpft an eine kanonkritische Praxis an und versteht sich zugleich als Beitrag zu musikwissenschaftlichen Debatten um Kanones, Macht und Historiographie, wie sie u. a. im Kontext von Kanonforschung, Gender Studies, postkolonialen und dekolonialen Theorien sowie Analysen institutioneller Normativität geführt werden. Das Symposium als klassische Struktur von Redebeiträgen einzelner Personen wird durch die Möglichkeit alternativer Vortrags- und Austauschformate partizipativ und interdisziplinär gestaltet.
