Strategic Plan 2025-2034

The Anton Bruckner Private University has laid down the strategic guidelines for the successful further development of the university in the coming accreditation period in its strategic plan for 2025 to 2034. Following a decision by the Presidium and acknowledgment by the Senate, the University Council, chaired by Governor Thomas Stelzer, unanimously approved the strategic plan.

The Executive Management Board of the ABU drew up the plan for the strategic orientation of the university for the next nine years in consultation with many members of the university and with the involvement of the Senate. Those responsible defined the further development of the curricula, the promotion of research and teaching, and social responsibility as key milestones of the development plan. The aim is to strengthen the connection between art and science, promote artistic and scholarly excellence, and expand international and regional networking. Strategies for achieving these goals include promoting interdisciplinary teaching formats, integrating research into teaching, creating space for creative processes, and targeted acquisition of third-party funding. Diversity and inclusion are also pursued as guiding principles.

The key areas in detail

  • Further development of the curricula (first mission)
The university aims to link art and its communication even more closely. This should not only contribute to artistic excellence, but also promote the humanistic education of society. In addition, the education of students is designed to develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills so that they can play an active role in a globally networked world. In order to meet these high standards, the university focuses on institutional stability and sustainable resource planning.

  • Research and innovation (second mission)
The university is committed to further developing its research and teaching by expanding its doctoral programmes and integrating interdisciplinary approaches. The curricula are adapted to current social challenges and expanded to include digital innovations. A particular focus is placed on the use of new technologies, especially artificial intelligence, to further develop modern teaching and research methods.

  • Social responsibility and third mission
The Anton Bruckner Private University sees itself as an open institution that promotes diversity, gender equality, and social participation. It attaches great importance to the social dimension of higher education by creating integrative and inclusive study programmes. Sustainability plays a central role in teaching and research, especially with regard to ecological responsibility. Through targeted measures, the university aims to raise awareness of these important issues not only among its students but also in society at large.
