At the core of the artistic doctoral project was the conception of a cycle of works in which processes of transformation were made visible and audible across different media. Each work was based on a characteristic element of an initial composition, which was subsequently taken up, expanded, and rearticulated in varying multimedia constellations. Gómez understands these processes of repetition as a system of difference that establishes a continuous state of becoming.
Conceptually, Gómez drew on the metaphor of the “orchid and the wasp” developed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, through which key concepts such as rhizome, multiplicity, and deterritorialisation are made productive for his compositional practice.
This gave rise to research questions concerning new strategies of composition, the generation of difference within a cycle of works, and the transformation of musical ideas through the interplay of different multimedia configurations.
We warmly congratulate Jorge Gómez Elizondo on the successful defence of his dissertation.
