Initial Enrolment
Procedure
If you have successfully passed the entrance exam or audition for the coming academic year and have received an offer of a study place from us, the following procedure applies:
1. Admission contract & payment of tuition fees
In mid-July*, we will send you the admission contract for your signature. You must return this, signed, to the Student Services Office by 1 September* (studienservice@bruckneruni.at). Please note the following:
- send the contract you have signed as ONE PDF file (do not send each page separately)
- all pages of the contract must be included in the PDF; the signature page alone is not sufficient
The tuition fee must also be paid into BrucknerUni’s account by 1 September*.
* In justified exceptional cases, students may only commence their studies in the summer semester of the relevant academic year, following successful completion of the entrance examination. In such cases, the dates and deadlines stated above are adjusted accordingly to the beginning of February and 1 March.
Please note
Only once both of these have been completed will you have officially accepted the place of study offered to you. If we have not received the signed admission contract and/or the tuition fee by 1 September, you will lose your right to the place of study!
2. Initial in-person enrolment
To complete your initial enrolment, you must appear in person at the Student Services Office during opening hours. Please bring the following with you:
- Your valid identity card (Austria and EU countries) or your valid passport (non-EU countries) (the original)
- A copy of your identity document (this will be retained by Student Services)
- The signed declaration on the transfer of rights and privacy policy
- You can also send this declaration in advance by email (student services@bruckneruni.at) or upload it via the online application form (currently only available for Jazz, MA Music Mediation and KMA Orchestra Academy).
Once you have completed your initial enrolment, you will receive
- Your student ID (BrucknerCard) from the Student Services Office (the photo for this will be taken there)
- a TAN code sent by email to set up your account in our campus software (bruckneronline).
3. Taking account of specific requirements
Do you still need to provide proof of your German language skills because German is not your first language?
If you currently hold the required German language certificate (B1 GER) at this stage, please bring it with you to your initial enrolment – both the original and a copy. You can find the list of accepted German language certificates here. The German language certificate must not be more than two years old.
If you are not yet able to provide proof of language proficiency at the time of initial enrolment, you have two semesters to submit your language certificate. Enrolment for the third semester can only take place once the language certificate has been submitted.
The exception is a Voice programme (VOC Institute). In this case, the German language certificate must have been submitted at the time of the entrance exam.

For a pedagogical Bachelor’s degree, you must provide the required German language certificate (B1 GER) by the time of your initial enrolment at the latest – both the original and a copy. For students on a pedagogical Bachelor’s degree, there is a compulsory introductory session for which you must register.
The first part of this introductory session takes place at the start of the winter semester.
Did you complete your Bachelor's programme at a university other than the Anton Bruckner University?
In that case, you will need a Transcript of Records for your Master's programme. To obtain this, please send your documents to anerkennungtyrbrucknerunirat.
The following must be included:
- Bachelor’s degree certificate(s)
- Transcript(s) of academic achievement (Transcript of Records)
The documents must be submitted in the original language. If they are not issued in two languages, a sworn translation into German or English must also be enclosed.
Please also let us know whether you were required to write a scholarly final thesis as part of your Bachelor's programme.
If this was not the case, the course “Scholarly Writing” from our Bachelor’s programmes will be specified in the admission record as a compulsory module in addition to your Master’s programme.
Those commencing their Master’s in Jazz or at the KMA Orchestra Academy may upload their certificates via the online application and do not need to submit them separately by email.
