Since her youth, she has been enthusiastic about music as a medium in various contexts: music at the intersection of art, pedagogy, education, therapy, research, and management. This diverse interest is reflected in her professional career as well as in numerous studies and further training courses she has completed in all these areas: IGP piano with a focus on music theory, music and dance in social work and integrative education, music therapy, music education, social science research methods, university and science management. In the spirit of lifelong learning, she closely links practice and skills acquisition and directly applies the skills she has acquired in her various professional positions.

As a piano teacher and accompanist, she works at the Upper Austrian State Music School and, in addition to piano, also teaches music theory and creative music-making with hearing- and visually-impaired children and young people (until 2019). During this time, her artistic work has focused on silent film soundtracks and the diverse possibilities of class evening performances, among other things. As the initiator of the competition format ensembletreffen in Austria (concept: ©ensembletreffen berlin), she directed it from 2004 to 2019.

At the Anton Bruckner Private University, she has been Dean of Studies for Artistic-Pedagogical and Artistic-Scientific Studies since 2019 and, since 2013, co-director of the university course “Music Education - Music in Context” as well as a lecturer at the Institute for Music Education. She teaches courses in instrumental (vocal) pedagogy and music education and supervises bachelor's and master's theses. At the Bruckner University, she initiates projects such as poemmusic - Sign Language Poetry & Music, Jazz Girls Day (concept: ©Berkeley High School), and annual training days on DEI topics.

In addition, she shares her knowledge as a lecturer in continuing education with university teachers, music school, elementary school, after-school care, and kindergarten educators, as well as a jury member (e.g., Piano Forum, Prima la Musica) or reviewer (e.g., aufZAQ). She has been a member of ensembles (e.g., exEMPel), is involved in networks (e.g., EPTA Austria, Forum Musikvermittlung), and regularly participates in training courses, conferences, and meetings, both actively and passively. In 2008, she spent a semester in New Zealand, where she visited compulsory schools, music schools, and universities as part of an educational leave of absence and conducted interviews with colleagues.

Dagmar Schinnerl is a graduate of the Linz Music High School, the Bruckner Conservatory Linz (IGP Piano, SP Music Theory), the Anton Bruckner Private University (ULG Music Education-Music in Context), and the University for Continuing Education Krems (ULG University and Science Management).
