Vittoria
Ecclesia
Vittoria Ecclesia has been working as a Senior Scientist at the docotral programmes of the Anton Bruckner University since November 2024. She studied clarinet in Tallinn and Novara and received her doctorate from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Her clarinet studies were enriched by private lessons with Yehuda Gilad, Fabrizio Meloni and Giuseppe Gentile. Vittoria has performed with various orchestras and chamber music ensembles in Italy, Estonia, Finland, France, Spain and Germany.
In her artistic research, she focuses on the differences between historical and modern clarinets from the performer's perspective and how these differences are reflected in their embodied knowledge. She is also passionate about mental health and the psychological side of music-making and endeavours to integrate this into her research. In addition, Ecclesia is interested in promoting validity and rigour in artistic research, particularly in terms of developing reliable methodologies, and has given workshops and conference presentations on these topics in various European countries.
Within the doctoral programme, Vittoria Ecclesia is involved in teaching seminars on methods of empirical research, as well as practice and theory of (artistic) scholarly research for doctoral and master's students, in organisational and administrative tasks, in the admission and evaluation process of doctoral students, and in the research and editorial work of the doctoral programmes.
